The News-Courier will publish, free of charge, death notices including the name, age and city of residence of the deceased, date and place of death, and time and place of funeral services and visitation.
Family members now may express themselves in a eulogy, list survivors and give detailed biographical information about the deceased in a paid obituary. The News-Courier will accept these paid items from the family, funeral directors, or other individuals. Paid obituaries may include a photo at no extra charge.
If a published obituary contains an error, The News-Courier will reprint a corrected obituary at no charge, provided the error was ours. The News-Courier does not issue refunds on obituary announcements.

Annette Britton Bates
The funeral for Annette Britton Bates, 65, of Athens will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Dusty McLemore officiating. Burial will be in Higgins Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bates died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
She was born Oct. 24, 1940, in Lauderdale County. She was a member of the Lindsay Lane Baptist Church and an employee of Westwood Manufacturing Co.
She was preceded in death by her father, Brodia B. Britton; and one son, Jimmy Bates.
She is survived by one son, Johnny Bates and his wife Pam, of Athens; her mother, Opal Britton of Rogersville; one brother, James D. Britton of Rogersville; one sister, Cathy Beasley of Athens; seven grandchildren; and three grandchildren.
Dale Eugene Doucette
The funeral for Dale Eugene Doucette, 73, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Everett Conn officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Doucette died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving for 20 years in Korea, Vietnam and Japan.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Doucette of Athens; one son, Michael Doucette of Athens; one daughter, Dayle Annette Glasgow of Athens; five grandchildren, Justin Moore, Nathan Champion, Amber Clark, Makenze Doucette, and Lacee Doucette; one great-grandchild, Hannah Champion, one brother, Vincent Antonich of Pine Mountain, Ga.; and one sister, Marilyn Heen of Redmond, Wash.
Pallbearers will be Mark Pepper, Tracy Sandlin, Wade Pepper, Max Davis, Guinn Laxson and John Laxson.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Athens-Limestone Kidney Association.
Myrtice Ethel Kyle
The funeral for Myrtice Ethel Kyle, 103, of Elkmont will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Antioch Methodist Church in Simsboro, La.
Burial will be in Atlanta Methodist Church Cemetery in Atlanta, La.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Kilpatrickās Funeral Home.
Spry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements locally.
Mrs. Kyle died Monday, March 6, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 9, 1902, in Cairo, Ga. She was a member of Wildwood United Methodist Church in Wildwood, Fla.
She is survived by three daughters, Mildred Neal of Ruston, La., Gynelle Rast of Wildwood, Fla., and Dottie Reding of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Gordon Kyle of Athens; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
