Devils keep title in E-Town

Ryan Woods drove in two runs on one hit, stole a base and picked up the save on the mound in helping Elkmont nail down the championship in its Red Devils’ Preseason Tournament with a 5-4 win over West Limestone on Saturday.
The Red Devils (7-1) avenged a loss to the Wildcats earlier in the day.
Woods pitched the seventh inning, striking out two and walking one. Joseph Mitchell got the win, allowing four runs on six hits, walking five and hitting one. The only earned run he allowed was a solo home run for Ryan Wheeler.
Steven Laye, Mitchell, Matt Vaughan and Chris Barnett each added singles for the Red Devils.
Colton Hill had two hits and two walks to lead the Wildcats. Blake Moffatt had a double, and Jeremy White and Darius Smith added singles.
In the midday game, The Red Devils made three costly errors, walked eight and hit one to basically give the game to the Wildcats.
The Wildcats outhit the Red Devils 5-4.
Laye had two hits and two stolen bases to lead the Red Devils. Woods had a two-run double.
Romine drew four walks for the Wildcats. Dusty Rose had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Hill added a three-run home run for West.
Justin Meeks was the winning pitcher for West, with Chance Newby taking the loss for Elkmont.
Third-place game
Clements 17, Tanner 1
Jessie Cobb had three hits, while Matthew Moore added two hits at the plate, and struck out nine on the mound to lift Clements to third place.
Like Elkmont, which avenged an earlier loss to West Limestone and claimed the championship, the Colts avenged a 1-0 loss to Tanner earlier in the day and took third.
Chris Kelley also had two hits for Clements in the second-game.
Brandon Gist had two hits, including a double and a triple, for Tanner. Shane Dempsey added a double.
In the opener, Tanner’s McMeans tossed a five-hit shut out.
Gist’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning scored Shane Dempsey with the winning run.
Jarrod Harrison had one hit, walked twice and stole a base for Tanner.
Sean Bachelor took the loss for clements, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out seven.

GURLEY — Clay Bailey had four hits and three RBIs to lead East past Hayden in extra innings.
Corey Dunn added two hits. Matthew Bailey got the win, with Cody Wells picking up the save for East (4-2).

Madison County 7
GURLEY – Clay Had two hits, including a grand slam in the sixth inning to lead the Indians over Madison County.
Gil Johnson had two hits in support of Well, who got the win on the mound.
