The end of one season and the beginning of another produced The News-Courier/Encore Sports Medicine High School Players of the Week for March 2.

In a tough loss to Pickens County in the semifinals of the Class 2A Northwest Regionals last Wednesday, Tanner’s Demarcus King hit bomb after bomb from outside the 3-point line to keep the Rattlers in contention and finished with 29 points.

Then, over the weekend, East Limestone’s Paige Boersma got the Lady Indians season off to a rousing start with the championship in the Butler 5-Points Tournament in Huntsville.
