Starbucks Coffee Company, which will employ approximately 20 workers when it opens in Athens in mid- to late March, is hosting a job fair Monday and Tuesday at Athens State University.

Athens Starbucks Manager Sara Zenk said Tuesday that people interested in a job at the restaurant should attend the job fair and complete an application. Interviews with applicants will be conducted at the job fair the same day, she said.

The job fair will be in the ASU Admissions Building Career Center on the second floor. It will be from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

“We are asking that anyone interested in a job with us to bring a resume and be ready for an onsite interview,” said Zenk.

The Starbucks building is under construction on U.S. 72 East across from Regions Bank. It is one of several new businesses that soon will open near the Interstate 65-U.S. 72 East interchange, including a Bojangles chicken restaurant and a retail center.

Starbucks specializes in unique coffees, breakfast pastries and other type foods. Zenk said the restaurant will open at 6 a.m. and will likely stay open until 11 p.m.

Starbucks has four locations in Huntsville, with the nearest store to Athens being at U.S. 72 and Memorial Parkway, Zenk said.

“You don’t have to attend the job fair to get a job with us,” said Zenk. “Those interested can go on line and apply at www.starbucks.com. We have immediate openings, competitive starting pay with great a opportunity for advancement and we offer a fabulous benefits package for both full- and part-time employees.”

Starbucks is headquartered in Seattle, Wash.
