Students who want to earn a master’s degree in business administration soon will be able to take courses on the Athens State University campus.

The University of North Alabama in Florence is partnering with ASU to offer a master’s of business administration degree on the Athens campus beginning in January.

Athens State will provide classroom space for graduate students in UNA’s MBA program with UNA teaching staff controlling the curriculum.

“We are pleased to partner with UNA on this initiative,” said Dr. Londa Shonesy, dean of Athens State College of Business.  “It will assist our local alumnus, and those holding undergraduate degrees from other institutions, to more easily achieve their goal of obtaining this popular advanced degree.”

The eight core courses in UNA’s MBA Program will be taught on the Athens State campus in a hybrid format to offer flexible scheduling.  Eight concentrations are offered in this program. Each concentration requires three three-credit hour courses, or nine hours total, to be completed in the related subject matter.

Public meetings will be held Wednesday in the ballroom of ASU’s Sandridge Student Center for representatives from UNA to discuss the details of the MBA program and answer questions from the public. One meeting will be from 4:45-5:45 p.m. and a second from 6-7 p.m. for anyone who is interested in learning about the program.
