The Alabama Cooperative Extension System — along with Community Action Partnership and Calhoun Community College’s Department of Nursing — is offering free, hands-on training for adult caregivers who provide or will provide care for sick family members or those with serious illnesses or disabilities. Individuals who work with home health agencies are welcome, also.

The course will be from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 in the Health Sciences Building at Calhoun Community College on U.S. 31.

Topics covered include aging and communication skills, health monitoring skills and body mechanics, personal care, nutrition and food safety, dealing with grief and stress management, legal issues, record keeping, and senior fraud prevention.

There is no fee for the course, and lunch is included.

Pre-registration is required by Monday, Sept. 24 by calling the Limestone County Extension Office at 256-232-5510.

Vendors are welcome. There is no charge to exhibit.  Potential vendors should contact Judy Edmond at 256-503-8021.
