ATHENS — Maggie, a boxer mix belonging to Amy Sayne and her son Jackson, chases snowflakes in the yard of their home in Southern Breeze subdivision in Limestone County. Rain, sleet and snow moved across the Tennessee Valley Thursday, forcing area schools to dismiss early and wreaking havoc on roads. Numerous slush-related travel issues were reported in Madison, where police warned against travel except in case of emergencies.

Cooks on the Wild Side big winner in cook-off
Cooks on the Wild Side including Howard Godbee, Victor Melonas, Denise Francis and Kelly Gambino took home the title with their Grilled Duck and Green Apple Salad. Close to 350 people and 20 cook teams participated in the Alabama Wildlife Federation/Alabama Army National Guard Wild Game Cook-Off.
