Champion Powersports in Athens recently joined a nationwide dealer network offering the Polaris GEM, a premium line of electric vehicles. With the addition of Polaris GEM vehicles to its stable of products, Champion Powersports is providing businesses in North Alabama with a versatile solution to move people, cargo, and complete essential tasks. Champion Powersports plans to aggressively market the new product to local commercial and industrial related industries such as the city of Athens, TVA, Steelcase, Federal Mogul, Athens State University, Calhoun Community College, Redstone Arsenal, Research Park, NASA and more.
The GEM lineup offers six models for transportation and utility use. The electric vehicles are fully customizable with suggested retail prices ranging from $7,829-$13,459.
With no emissions, unmatched maneuverability and engineering that complies with federal safety requirements for low-speed vehicles, GEMs can be driven indoors or on roads anywhere with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less. The battery-operated system costs about 2 cents per mile to operate, reaches a maximum speed of 25 mph, and can run up to 40 miles per charge depending on temperature, grade, payload, and driving style.
