The inaugural Athens Grease Festival was held Saturday in downtown Athens, and there were plenty of sights, sounds and food for all attendees.
The event opened with a Toga Run at 9 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 11 a.m. The festival was set to draw to a close at 10 p.m. after a performance from The Park Band.

Rodeo slack competition held Thursday
Jacob Daggenhart prepares to lasso a calf during the slack competition at the Sheriff’s Rodeo Arena Thursday morning. Children who achieved reading goals this school year were granted free admittance to watch the cowboys ride bulls and perform rope tricks. The rodeo main event kicks off tonight, with gates opening at 6 p.m. The rodeo starts at 8.
