From the unexpected bang of a pistol and a plastic cup toast with the crowd to a flamboyant role-reversal rendition of “Single Ladies,” the 21st annual Poke Sallet Follies elicited laughs, cackles and a pop during Saturday night’s finale.
The exuberant cast sang, danced and traded one-liners during skits and commercials in a dinner theatre format on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Athens Senior Center.
In one skit, Sheriff Mike Blakely improvised and fired a blank from his pistol instead of delivering the scripted knockout blow, and managed to startle and amuse the crowd.
In “Red Solo Cup,” the cast asked the audience to join in and raise the red cups at their tables where a dinner of chicken cordon bleu, baked potato, spring salad and cherry cheesecake had been served prior to the show.
