Can you remember any magic moments from the ‘40s, ‘60s or ‘80s?
If you conveniently buried them in your subconscious the Prime Time Players are ready to dig them up.
Tickets go on sale at 6 a.m. Feb. 15 at the Athens Senior Center for the March 11, 12 and 13 performances of the Poke Sallet Revival. This year’s theme is “Magic Moments.”
In their musical numbers and skits the Players have managed to revive the memories of three generations, not counting the current generation, which is living it, so they don’t need to be reminded.
Co-directors Jackie Jackson and Jack Greenhaw once again will lead the cast in two hours of merry mayhem to benefit Athens-Limestone Foundation for Aging programs.
Jackson said this year’s show will borrow a couple of dance numbers from the SRO Pearl Harbor tribute from December, which the pair directed, for the 1940s segment of the show. Those numbers are “You’re in the Army, Mr. Jones,” and “Nothing Like a Dame.”
From the 1960s, there will be a segment from the old Ed Sullivan Show, which introduced such performers as Sonny & Cher and the Mamas & Papas.
“We’ll also have a segment from the old Shower of Stars radio show out of Birmingham,” said Jackson.
Ticket Sales will begin at 6 a.m. Monday, Feb 15, but doors to the Senior Center will open at 4 a.m., according to Council on Aging Director Emily Haney.
“The tickets will be $35 each,” said Haney. “Each person has a limit of purchasing two tables at a time.”
Haney also said that anyone interested in volunteering to serve dinner at Poke Sallet, should let her know as soon as possible.
“The only requirements are that you are able to stay from 6 p.m. until the show ends and that you have a pair of black pants and a white shirt and you can enjoy the show for free,” said Haney.
Haney also asks that anyone who has materials, costumes or props loaned or donated to them and wants the donor to be mentioned in the program should get the information to her by Feb. 16.
Call Haney at (256) 233-6412 for more information, to volunteer or to include a name in the program.
Advertisements are also being sold to go in the program. To place an ad, call Jennifer Reece at the Senior Center at (256) 233-6412.
