Gratitude shown firefighters

The Alabama Sports Festival, the state Legislature and the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness recently partnered to show their gratitude to Alabama firefighters. Thursday, state senators Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, and Tom Butler, D-Madison, along with state representatives Henry White, D-Athens, and Mac McCutcheon, R-Capshaw, presented Medals of Sacrifice to the families of three Limestone County volunteer firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. From left, Neal Rose accepted for his father, J.B. Rose, who died fighting a wild land fire in Oct. 1989; Katie Hardaway, who accepted for her brother Clint Romine, who died after being struck by a tree during tornado cleanup in September 2004; and Stanley Moore, brother of Ricky Moore, who died en route to a structure fire in June 1997.
