Woman in her 70s slain in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Police in Tuscaloosa are investigating the killing of a woman in her 70s in The Highlands neighborhood.

Authorities say a neighbor found the woman dead inside a home around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson said the death was determined to be a homicide.

No arrests had been made as of late Sunday night.

The Tuscaloosa News reports (http://bit.ly/YvSJmW) that the neighborhood of large, older homes near DCH Regional Center rarely sees such crime.

The woman's name had not been released as of Sunday night because her next of kin had not yet been notified. Few other details were available early Monday.
