Bronner: Recession looms without fiscal cliff deal

— MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The head of Retirement Systems of Alabama is warning of dire consequences for the economy if political leaders in Washington D.C. can't reach agreement on the so-called fiscal cliff.

David Bronner said that if leaders can't agree, the nation would be back in a recession within a month or two. Bronner said he's never seen Democrats and Republicans be "so ridiculous" and fail to make up their minds one way or another.

WSFA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/YUASvu) that Bronner made the comments at the Beasley Allen Legal Conference and Expo on Thursday.

Despite his warnings, Bronner said he's optimistic about the chances that leaders will reach an agreement by late December.
