GREENSBORO, Ala. — A state legislator says Greene County’s sheriff has the authority to deputize men to stop a raid of the local dog track.
The commander of the governor’s antigambling task force says Greenetrack’s electronic bingo operations are illegal slot machines.
State Sen. Bobby Singleton, a Greensboro Democrat, said Sunday at a news conference that local officials would defy any attempts by Gov. Bob Riley’s task force to raid Greenetrack bingo operations without a warrant.
