PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A prominent Maine defense contractor and two relatives are due in federal court next month to be sentenced after their guilty pleas to a million dollar bribery scheme involving the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command outside Huntsville, Ala.
Federal prosecutors say 65-year-old Maurice “Moe” Subilia Jr. of Kennebunkport was the mastermind behind the fraud that bribed two Space Command officials.
The Portland Press Herald says Subilia is facing up to 40 years in prison for his plea to charges of conspiracy, money laundering and bribery of public officials.
Subilia’s brother, Robert Subilia of Wells, and son-in-law Paul Hurlburt of Kennebunk, have pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges. Each faces five years.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 15.
