The city of Athens has received numerous emails and calls regarding the observance of Halloween, which falls on a Wednesday, a church night for many in the area.
Groups are trying to plan their events based on when the city will ask citizens to observe trick-or-treating. Mayor Ronnie Marks said the city would observe Halloween on the day it falls.
“Children should have time to trick-or-treat and attend any church events or other Halloween-related events held on Oct. 31,” the mayor said. “We just ask everyone to be safe and watch out for trick-or-treaters that evening.”
