BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say three firefighters are recovering after being hurt while battling a blaze at a Birmingham house.
Fire officials say the fire happened in the city's West End area around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
WBRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/YAyHep) that two firefighters sustained second- and third-degree burns. Another fell from a ladder.
Authorities say all three were taken to UAB Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Malinda Hubbard, the daughter of the homeowner, told the TV station that her 78-year-old father got out of the house safely and went to a neighbor's for help.
Authorities were looking at a heating unit in the basement of the home as the possible cause.
