Girl, 5, dies after being struck by truck

— TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a 5-year-old girl has died after she was struck by a vehicle in the Tuscaloosa area.

Tuscaloosa police say the girl was walking on 25th Avenue near Fourth Street with a 14-year-old girl when both children were hit by a truck around 2 p.m. Sunday.

The driver of the truck, who was unidentified, took them to DCH Regional Medical Center, where the 5-year-old died.

The Tuscaloosa News reports (http://bit.ly/Z5dsVp) that the condition of the older girl was not known.

Police said the accident remained under investigation.
