— From staff reports
Affiliates of the Huntsville Hospital System, including Athens-Limestone Hospital and Madison Hospital, are currently conducting a community health assessment.
Likened to an annual physical examination, the assessment will take place over the next several months. The assessment includes an online public survey, as well as feedback from physicians, and data from local, state and national health agencies.
“We want residents in our community and surrounding areas to go online and take the self-assessment,” said Kelli Powers, CEO of Athens-Limestone Hospital. “The survey is completely anonymous.”
She said the findings from the assessment could help communities establish health priorities and improvement strategies for the future. A comprehensive report from the study will be released during the first quarter of 2013.
County specific reports will be produced for a dozen North Alabama counties, including Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan and Jackson counties.
The health survey is available on Athens-Limestone Hospital’s website at http://www.athenslimestonehospital.com.
