Boy scout rescued after fall from Walls of Jericho

HYTOP, Ala. (AP) — A 15-year-old Boy Scout has been rescued from the Walls of Jericho near Hytop after falling and hurting his foot.

The Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad carried the boy, who was not identified, from the Walls and up the 1,000-foot Cumberland Plateau Saturday night on all-terrain vehicle. Eddie Teague of the rescue squad said the boy’s injuries were not believed to be serious.

Teague said the rescue was complicated by high water in a creek that flows from the Walls and a muddy trail up the mountain.
