Bail firms accused of hacking sheriff’s computer

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Three bail bond firms are accused of hacking into the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office computer system.

Investigators say the firms were obtaining personal information about inmates in order to gain a competitive advantage on other companies.

Search warrants were served Wednesday at A to Z Bail Bonds, Central Bonding and Bandit Bail Bonds — all in Mobile County.

Deputies are continuing to investigate and will decide later whether any criminal charges will be filed.
