Trinity woman charged with stealing pain patches

MADISON, Ala. (AP) — A Morgan County woman accused of stealing a pain patche from a nursing home patient turned herself into police.

Madison police said 39-year-old Janice Frost Wells of Trinity surrendered Tuesday after seeing media reports of a warrant for her arrest.

Wells, according to police, allegedly posed as a Hospice representative and stole pain patches from a patient at Valley View Nursing Home in Oct. 2008.

Authorities believe Wells may be responsible for similar thefts that occurred at several nursing homes across north Alabama.

Wells was booked into the Madison County Metro Jail Tuesday for 2nd degree theft.

She was released on $15,000 bond.
