Jasper cops hurt in head-on collision


JASPER, Ala. (AP) — Two Jasper police officers injured in a head-on crash are scheduled to undergo more treatment Monday.

Police Chief Bobby Cain said the wreck happened Friday night in Jasper.

Sgt. Kenneth Hyche and Officer Jordan Beard were in a patrol car when it was hit by a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road.

Cain said charges are pending against the driver and two of his passengers. Police declined to release their names.

Hyche and Beard each suffered a broken leg and other injuries.

Hyche was listed in fair condition at UAB Hospital. Beard was discharged from the hospital.
