Mobile police link wedding thief to earlier thefts

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Mobile police said a woman accused of stealing a bride’s purse during her wedding over the weekend has also been linked to two other wedding robberies.

Police said they believe the woman, who has not been identified, also stole personal items during two weddings in June.

The most recent theft took place at Tomasene Stevenson’s wedding Saturday. The thief took Stevenson’s purse and money from her bridesmaids’ purses during the ceremony at a church.

Police said the thief is described as a black woman in her early 20s, about 5-foot-7, with a medium build. Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call Mobile police.
