BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A Birmingham man will serve time in a federal prison after he pleaded guilty to participating in a violent carjacking in Birmingham in May of last year.

U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler Wednesday sentenced 25-year-old Kadarius Montre Berry to 65 months (5 years, 8 months) in prison.

In a plea deal, Berry admitted he and another male carjacked and robbed two people at gunpoint on 19th Street South.
