LOXLEY, Ala. (AP) — State prison officials say three inmates who escaped from a minimum-security facility in Elmore County are back in custody.
Bay Minette Police and Baldwin County sheriff’s deputies captured 19-year-old Corey Jones, 23-year-old Joshua Deese and 26-year-old Lawrence Smith.
The inmates were apprehended Thursday after a 12-hour manhunt in a rural area near Interstate 65 and Alabama 59.
A Department of Corrections official said the three fled during an exercise period at the Frank Lee Youth Center. All were returned to state custody and could face additional charges.
