Tray Cosby led the Tanner High Rattlers to a 38-0 win over the Falkville Blue Devils, rushing for 117 yards in 12 attempts.
Cosby scored two touchdowns, including an 82-yard kickoff return in the third quarter.
The Rattlers’ defense, meanwhile, stuffed the Falkville’s efforts at moving the ball, holding the Blue Devils to minus-45 yards offense.
Cosby started off the scoring with a two-yard run with 3:33 remaining in the first quarter. The kick for the extra point by Obed Sanchez was good.
With 3:18 left in the second quarter, Sanchez kicked a 23-yard field goal to put the Rattlers ahead 10-0.
With only 14 seconds remaining on the firest-half clock, Greg Maclin scored after snagging a 41-yard pass from QB Landon Stephens. The extra point by Sanchez again was good, making the score Tanner 17, Falkville 0 at the half.
Cosby’s 82-yard kickoff return came with 11:47 minutes left in the third quarter. Sanchez’s extra point kick was good.
With 9:12 remaining in the third, Cosby scored on an 11-yard run, with Sanchez kicking the extra point.
Keitrick Thompson had a 38-yard punt return for the final touchdown of the night with 6:48 left in the third quarter. Sanchez’s kick was good.
Tanner travels to Fultondale next week.
