WIldcats take third place in Priceville Tournament

West Limestone High’s boys’ basketball team captured third place in the Priceville Thanksgiving Tournament Saturday with a 83-33 win over Falkville.

Alex Taylor scored a team-high 19 points for the Wildcats. Kyle Casteel had 11 points and nine rebounds. Brady Phillips recorded 14 points while Preston Herring and Jordan Romine each chipped in with 10 points.

West Limestone (5-2) hosts Lauderdale County Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. with junior varsity girls’ action.Girls

West Limestone 46, Mortimer Jordan 44

After trailing the whole game against the Class 5A Lady Blue Devils, West Limestone took a four-point lead with four minutes to go. Mortimer Jordan regained the lead shortly after, but a shot by Heidi Taylor with one second remaining in the contest helped the Lady Wildcats notch their first win of the season.

“Bugg” Grizzard was the only West Limestone player in double figures with 21 points.

In other varsity girls’ action, Ardmore High picked up a win and a loss during the final day of play in the Danville Thanksgiving Tournament.

Ashley Miles helped pace the Lady Tigers in their 71-21 win over Columbia with 19 points and eight rebounds. Susanna Eubanks tossed in 10 points. Callie Bryant contributed nine points while Brittany Brown had eight points and seven steals.

Ardmore fell 49-36 against Mountain Brook in afternoon action.

Bryant finished with eight points. Miles had five points and 19 rebounds.

In opening action of the tournament at Danville High School, the Lady Tigers dropped two games, falling 62-42 to Lauderdale County and 50-42 to Good Hope.

Brown led all Ardmore scorers with 16 points. Elizabeth Hodges had eight while Callie Steadman had five.

In the loss to the Lady Raiders, Brown paced Ardmore with 10 points. Miles had nine points and six rebounds. Eubanks contributed six points while Steadman netted three points and recorded 12 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers travel to Brooks Tuesday for their second area game of the season.
