Clements High’s girls’ basketball team improved to 5-0 over the Thanksgiving holiday, picking up two wins in the Danville High Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Class 2A, second-ranked Lady Colts defeated East Lawrence 54-35 and Munford 74-55.
Against the Lady Eagles, freshman DaNeshia Malone scored a team-high 29 points while pulling down 14 rebounds and recording five blocks. Jordan Beggs contributed with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Chelsea Haggermaker had seven points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Beggs led Clements against Munford with 22 points and four blocks. Haggermaker tossed in 16 points while pulling down six rebounds. Malone had 15 points and nine rebounds. Jessica Petty netted eight points and had 10 assists.
The Lady Colts play Brooks at 1:30 p.m. today at Danville High School.
Boys
West 67, Danville 46
Leading by two at the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats went on a 24-5 run in the fourth quarter in the Priceville Tournament to seal the win.
Preston Herring led West Limestone with 16 points. Austin Adams had 12 points and five steals. Brady Phillips tossed in 11 points, followed by Justin White with 10 points.
Other varsity boys action, Athens High fell to Anniston 63-50 in the second round of the SportsMed Shootout in Huntsville.
