BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The Southeastern Conference named Mississippi State running back Anthony Dixon, Auburn cornerback Walt McFadden and Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis as its players of the week.
Dixon rushed for a school-record 252 yards and two touchdowns in State’s win over Kentucky. It’s the SEC’s highest total this season.
Auburn’s McFadden tied a career-high with five tackles and returned the first of two interceptions for a touchdown against Mississippi.
Sturgis won special teams honors after kicking a career-long 56-yard field goal and making a 44-yarder in Florida’s win over Georgia.
Arkansas guard Mitch Petrus was offensive lineman of the week while Auburn end Antonio Coleman won defensive line honors. Tennessee defensive back Janzen Jackson was freshman of the week.
