Clements High School’s Allison Jay took second-place honors in the varsity girls 1A-4A meet at the Brooks Invitational over the weekend.
Jay finished behind Rogers High School’s Katie Stewart with a time of 21:34.
Teammates Ryanne Atkins placed 35th with a time of 27:24, followed by Heather Hammonds at 45th with a time of 28:33. Rebecca Holland was 51st with a time of 29:06. Victoria Holland also participated and finished 61st with a time of 31:45.
In the varsity boys 1A-4A meet, Ethan Burt was the first to cross the finish line for Clements with a time of 21:42 and a 59th place finish. Other teammates participating included Zach Hoffman, 80, 23:06; Trey McMeans, 85, 23:27; Gaston Borunda, 113, 25:31; Cody Peden, 122, 26:28 and Seth Reese, 134, 28:31.
The Athens Bible junior varsity boys claimed the 1A-4A JV boys title at the meet.
Jeb Hagewood placed second overall with a time of 12:25. Teammate Jesse Beck was third with a time of 12:39, followed by Ryan Crews, also of ABS, in fourth with a time of 12:43. Rounding out the top 20 for the Trojans, were, Scotty Jackson, 12, 13:31; Parker McCurry, 16, 13:47; Hayden Sutton, 17, 13:48 and Carter Corneil, 18, 13;53. Andrew Dunaway, Dalton Adams, Will Crews, Jacob Britnell, Cole Pierce, John Allen Berkebile, Connell Hodges, Stuart Bullington and Noah Higginbotham also participated for Athens Bible.
Mack Vanwagnon , Richard Hodges, Jacob Schmidt and Joshua Duncan all participated for Clements.
In the junior varsity girls meet, Athens Bible placed fourth.
Ashley Riggins earned a fifth place finish with a time of 14:42. Catherine Butler was 15th with a time of 15:40. Becca Harwell finished 24th with a time of 16:23, while Emma Olrick was 19th with a time of 17:04. Caitlin Denton was 32nd with a time of 17:24.
Cora Browning was 37th for Clements with a time of 18:11.
