The Elkmont Red Devils kicked off its 2010 season with an impressive 42-21 win over rival Ardmore Friday night.
The two teams battled back and forth in an action-packed first half that ended 21-21.
Ardmore struck first on a 54-yard touchdown pass from J. Tribble to Michael Fogg. Elkmont answered with an 80-yard drive and scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Hayden Huseth to Cole Glass.
The Tigers threw another punch when Tribble found Matt Teeples for a 5-yard touchdown pass with 8:42 to go in the second quarter putting Ardmore on top 14-7. One minute later, Cole Glass took the speed sweep around the corner for an 11-yard touchdown run to tie the game.
After forcing an Ardmore punt, Elkmont would score again on a 31-yard pass from Huseth to Connor Anderson. Ardmore answered just before halftime with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Tribble to Fogg. It would be the last time the Tigers found the end zone.
