— Tray Cosby and the Tanner Rattlers used a ball-control running game to roll to a 28-0 win over Westminster Christian Friday night at Tanner.
Cosby lead the way with 162 rushing yards and two touchdowns including a 67-yard interception return in the second half.
Tanner jumped on the board first with 7:07 left in the second quarter. Cosby’s 3-yard touchdown run capped off a five-play 49-yard drive. The touchdown was setup by a 29-yard pass from Landon Stephens to Greg Maclin. Obed Sanchez added the extra point. Tanner extended the lead to 14-0 just before halftime on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Stephens to Ketrick Thompson.
Cosby scored his second touchdown of the game after intercepting a Westminster option pitch and returning it 67 yards for a touchdown. Sanchez extra point made it 21-0 with 7 minutes to play in the third quarter. Kyle Shoulders added the Rattlers final score on a 3-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.
Tanner’s defense held Westminster to 106 total yards on the night.
The Rattlers face Falkville on the road Friday in a regional matchup.
