— BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Seab Webster scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds in the 4A boys championship game as he helped Madison County to a 28-25 victory over J.O. Johnson on Saturday.
Madison County (29-4) took a 26-25 lead with 1:25 to go on a layup by Webster, who received tournament Most Valuable Player honors. J.O. Johnson (22-9) then missed four free throws in the final minute to help give the Tigers their second state title.
J.O. Johnson missed two free throws with 13 seconds left and Webster prevented a chance for a tap-in by securing the rebound. Webster then hit 1 of 2 from the free throw line to put the game away for the Tigers.
Lionel Love scored seven points to lead J.O. Johnson as the school was looking to win its first state championship since 1987.
