Hot with a 100 percent chance of mud.
That’s what dozens of teams and spectators can expect Saturday as they turn out for the 23rd annual CASA Mud Volleyball Tournament at Swan Creek Park on U.S. 31, just south of Athens High School.
Play begins at 9 a.m. and usually continues into late afternoon and early evening until a champion is crowned.
Proceeds from tournament entry generate approximately $8,000 to help CASA provide services to the elderly and homebound. The tournament serves as the primary fundraiser for CASA of Limestone County.
Admission is free.
At any given time, CASA has about 250 to 300 volunteers working on or helping with, primary services including transportation to medial appointments, construction of wheelchair ramps, winterization, telephone reassurance, case management, installation of grab bars and other adaptive equipment and miscellaneous chores such as minor home repairs.
