Elkmont, West get area wins


The Elkmont Red Devils put together a sterling first half on offense and displayed a stingy second half defense down the stretch to down the hometown West Morgan Rebels 35-20 last night.

Running back Hunter Day led the offense with 23 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns, scoring on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 5-yard burst with 45 seconds left in the final stanza.

Elkmont quarterback Dylan Brazeal was on target for 15 of 29 passes for 241 yards and had two interceptions.

Brazeal hit wideout David Petty in the second quarter with a 27-yard scoring strike and completed a 29-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Levi Gant in the fourth.

Elkmont faces the Clements Colts next Friday night at Clements.



West 22, Sheffield 21

Sheffield threatened to take the lead with one minute remaining on the clock after failing on a 2-point conversion earlier in the fourth quarter, but were unable to get the snap off in time, sealing the win for West Limestone.

Sophomore Alex Taylor had 12 rushes for 156 yards and one touchdown for the Wildcats. Jake Holland had 10 rushes for 47 yards and two touchdowns.



Ardmore postponed

Game postponed

The Ardmore Tigers’ game at Wilson High School was postponed Friday night due to lightning and has been rescheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.

Players were removed from the field about 20 minutes before the scheduled 7 p.m. kickoff.
