ELKMONT— Don Jacobs is sure to have been fooled a few times in his life.
But this week, the Elkmont head coach certainly hasn’t let a 0-3 start by 3A, Region 8 opponent West Morgan mislead him.
Jacobs knows the Rebels’ record doesn’t indicate what type of team it is.
“They’ve had their backs against the wall the past few games,” Jacobs said. “But they’ve fought and played hard the whole time, they just have happened to come up on the short end. If we don’t stop them, there’s a good chance we could be on the wrong end of the stick.”
When the two teams take the field at Trinity tonight, it will be West Morgan’s first home game of the season. With the Red Devils’ winning last year’s four-overtime thriller at Boss Hill Stadium, Jacobs is sure the Rebels will be ready to play.
“They still remember last year,” Jacobs said. “As matter of fact, their coach mentioned something about it when we swapped film the other day. They probably see this as a chance to win with it being their first home game.”
Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
Back to work
After suffering its first loss of the season last Friday to Elkmont, West Limestone has been back at work this week despite the weather Mother Nature has brought to the area.
“They didn’t like the loss,” head coach David Arnsparger said. “But they haven’t given up. They understand that when you don’t play well you have to go back to work.”
Despite all the mistakes Arnsparger saw while watching film of the game, the coach said there weren’t any mistakes that haven’t been easily corrected.
The Wildcats host Sheffield tonight in a Class 3A, Region 8 match up.
