TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama athletic director Mal Moore has been hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat.
Moore's personal physician, Dr. James B. Robinson, said the 72-year-old was admitted Tuesday evening to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa as a precautionary measure. Robinson said Moore was "doing fine."
Moore has led his alma mater's athletic department since 1999. The football building was named the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility in 2007, and he was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame last year.
Moore spent 22 years as an assistant football coach in Alabama, starting in 1964 as a graduate assistant under Bear Bryant. He returned as Gene Stallings' offensive coordinator from 1990-93.
Moore played for Bryant and has been part of nine football national championship teams as a player, coach or administrator.
