CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a concussion and will sit out the next two Sprint Cup races at Charlotte and Kansas.
The injury ends NASCAR's most popular driver's championship chances this season.
Hendrick Motorsports says Earnhardt Jr. was diagnosed Wednesday afternoon. He sustained the concussion in the 25-car pileup on the last lap of Sunday's race at Talladega.
Regan Smith will replace Earnhardt Jr. in the No. 88 Chevrolet in the next two events.
Cody Glenn pitched seven scoreless innings as LSU beat Alabama 3-0 in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Wednesday.
CHICAGO (AP) — Star linebacker Brian Urlacher is calling it a career after 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears.
The eight-time Pro Bowl player announced his retirement on his Twitter account Wednesday. In a statement, he said, "After spending a lot of time this spring thinking about my NFL future, I have made a decision to retire."
The game lasted more than 4½ hours and ended at 12:25 a.m. The 17 innings matched the longest game in tournament history with Auburn-Arkansas in 1994.
Alabama used a 3-run rally in the eighth inning to push past Auburn for a 6-3 victory in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Tuesday.
