SALEM —
Jake Holland and his West Limestone teammates wanted to make a statement Friday in their opening game of the season against Clements.
They did.
The Wildcats took control of the game early, jumping out to a 35-0 lead at the half, and never looked back in the 49-17 win, as they earned their second consecutive victory over the Colts.
Holland led the way, gaining 95 of West Limestone’s 243 yards on the ground. Those yards included two touchdown runs of 2 and 20 yards. For his effort and performance, Holland has been selected as this week’s News Courier Player of the Week.
“All of the credit goes to the line,” Holland said. “They played great.”
Holland and the Wildcats host Ardmore Friday night for the first Class 4A, Region 8 game of the year. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
