SALEM —
Jake Holland did something Friday night that isn’t heard about often in the game of football.
In the Wildcats region contest against Wilson, the senior had a hat-trick, throwing, receiving and rushing for touchdowns in their 26-6 win. Holland hit Alex Taylor with an 18-yard pass for the first score of the game. He then added a 2-yard run and later scored his final touchdown of the game on a 15-yard reception pass from Caleb McConnell.
For his efforts, Holland has been selected as this week’s News Courier Player of the Week. However, he isn’t taking any credit for his play.
“It’s not just me, it’s the line too,” Holland said. “If it wasn’t for them, nothing could be done.”
Holland and the Wildcats take a break from region play Friday night when they host county foe Elkmont. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
