Ginger Willard

The funeral for Ginger Gay Willard, 59, of Decatur, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is from noon to  2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Willard died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at home.

Ginger Willard was born Sept. 1, 1953, in Madison County, to James Davis Willard and Mary Ruth Scott Willard. She was a former dispatcher for the Athens Police Department and Huntsville Police Department. She was also a former security guard at Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant and the Athens-Limestone Hospital accounting department.

Ginger was very active in sports. She played basketball and softball for Calhoun Community College. She played many years on women’s softball teams at Christopher Park. She was a volunteer coach for many girls softball teams in the Owens community.

Survivors include her daughters, Shannon Neely of Pulaski, Tenn., and Sabrina Hughes of Hartselle; brothers, Sandy Willard and Jerry Willard, both of Huntsville, and Danis Willard of North Carolina; and grandchildren, Scott Neely, Olivia Neely, Tori Hughes and Tucker Hughes.
