Ann Sneed Pennington, 85, of Athens passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at her residence. She was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Meridian, Miss., to John Rabenscroft and Blanche Aust Sneed.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Biloxi National Cemetery, in Biloxi, Miss., with the Rev. Jaina Anderson officiating. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Pennington was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a member of D.A.R. and P.E.O. Sisterhood and Colonial Dames.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia King and husband, Sammy, of Athens; three grandchildren, Meredith Jackson Shapley and husband, Christopher, of Starkville, Miss., John C. Jackson of Jackson, Miss., and Sam Jackson of Athens; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Catherine Shapley of Starkville, Miss.; two step-granddaughters, Kimberly King Tidwell and husband, Keith, and Sarah Anne King Kirkland and husband, Patrick; one sister, Janie Nichols of Ft. Payne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
