Thelma Murrell

— Thelma Lorae Murrell, 85, of Athens passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Mrs. Murrell was born June 18, 1927, in Butler County to W. G. Gafford and Myrtle Gafford.

The funeral will be at 3:15 p.m. today at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Montgomery Memorial Gardens with Bill and Steven Murrell officiating.

Mrs. Murrell was a member of Eastside Church of Christ, a minister’s wife and she was married to her husband William Murrell Sr. for 36 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Murrell Sr.; her parents, W. G. and Myrtle Gafford; and brother, Glenn Gafford.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Murrell and wife Burnetta of Athens and Steven Murrell and wife Marlene of Birmingham; sister, Ruby Jones of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Murrell, Brent Murrell, Jared Murrell, Brad Murrell and John Murrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Amber Murrell and Brittney Murrell.

In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Athens Bible School.
