Eddie Pressnell

— The funeral for Eddie Kenneth Pressnell, 70, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Ray McElhaney and Keith Turberville officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Pressnell died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Decatur General Hospital.

Eddie Pressnell was born April 25, 1942, in Limestone County. He retired from Monsanto. Mr. Pressnell was a member of First Baptist Church in Tanner where he served many years as a deacon and was active in the bus ministry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Etna Leon Pressnell; son, William “Marty” Pressnell; and nephew, Jeffrey Don McBay.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Martin Pressnell of Athens; son, Barry Pressnell and wife Kim of Athens; daughter, Karen Griggs and husband Bradley D. of Athens; sister, Mary Ann McBay Scott of Athens; grandchildren, Whitney Griggs Ballinger and husband David of Huntsville, Blake Montgomery, Bailee Pressnell and Keeton Griggs, all of Athens; mother-in-law, Bernice Martin of Athens; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are the deacons of First Baptist Church in Tanner. Honorary pallbearers are Keeton Griggs, Blake Montgomery and David Ballinger.

Memorials may be made to: Bus Ministry of First Baptist Church, Tanner.
