The graveside service for Dennison Neil Rice, 89, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Athens City Cemetery with Dr. Edwin Jenkins officiating. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Rice passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Decatur General Hospital.
Dennison Rice was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Lauderdale County to William Bryan Rice and Velma Jackson Rice. Mr. Rice was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens. He retired in 1980 from Alabama Farmers Co-op in Decatur. Mr. Rice was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Rice of Athens; one son, James Neil Rice of Athens; and many cousins.
Pallbearers are Keith Haney, Horace Haney, Jim Hardage, Tom Hine, Harold McKee, Shelby Wilson and Tommy Paulk. Honorary pallbearers will be the men’s Sunday school class at First Baptist Church.
