Herbert Ralph Coleman

— Herbert Ralph Coleman, 84, of Athens died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

The funeral service is today at 3:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with James Turner and Keith Davis officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until the service. The burial will follow the funeral at Pleasant Point Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Coleman was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Madison County. He was a member of Shanghai Baptist Church in Athens,  and a retired machinist at Reynolds Alumnium in Sheffield. He was an Army combat veteran  of the 1st Calvary,  Seventh Division during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter, antique car enthusiast and a NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Springer Coleman of Athens; daughter, Donna Mitchell and husband Thomas of Athens; sons, Steve Coleman and wife Loretta of Athens and Ron Coleman and wife Melanie of Athens; grandchildren, Peyton Coleman and Bayleigh Coleman of Athens; sisters, Nancy Seamen and Laura Brookshire of Athens; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollie and Jane Coleman; grandson, Luke Mitchell; brothers, Joe Coleman and Walter Coleman; and sister, Pearl Burris.

Pallbearers are Peyton Coleman, John Coleman, Mike Brookshire, Issac Brookshire, Adam Coleman and Robert Brookshire.     

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
