The funeral for Lura “Lu Lu” Springer, 88, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Springer passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, due to a neck injury.
Lura was born July 9, 1924, in Athens where she lived before moving to Hartselle in 1968. Lura worked at the Lurleen Wallace Center in Decatur for 21 years before retiring to Fort Walton Beach in 2000.
Lura was preceded in death by her husband, Villard Springer; two grandsons, Joe “Joey” Hatfield in 2003 and Johnny Reno.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye Reno Hatfield and Vickie Springer Davis, both of Florida; three sons, Bobby Reno of Hartselle, Jimmy Springer of North Carolina and Jerry Springer of Florida; five grandsons, Randy Hatfield of Florida, Rick Hatfield and Mark Hatfield, both of Tennessee; three granddaughters, Linda Reno Harbin of Moulton, Sheila Reno Rainwater of Priceville and Melissa Springer Caldwell of Tennessee; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Lura has many nieces and nephews and made many, many friends along her life with her bubbly personality, her love for life and all her kindness.
