Joseph Elliott Jr.

— The funeral for Joseph Sigmon Elliott Jr., 81, of Decatur will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Spry Funeral Home with Sherry Harris officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Elliott died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born June 26, 1931, in Limestone County.

Mr. Elliott was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired from Monsanto Chemical after 40 years of service. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Glynn Elliott; a son, Joseph “Joey” Sigmon Elliott III; his parents, Joe S. Elliott Sr. and Kathryn Grisham Nowlin, and a granddaughter, Hannah Alexis Hadavi.

Survivors include his daughter, Renea Hadavi of Decatur; a brother, H.M. Nowlin and wife Debbie of Huntsville; grandchildren, Elliott Hadavi and wife Stacey of Trinity, Jenna Elliott Lipphardt and husband Sean of Ocala, Fla.; Lindsey Elliott Stone and husband Barkley of Ocala, and Ariana Hadavi Puckett and husband Mathew of Decatur; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Elliott Hadavi, Michael Putman, Steve Long, Mike Lopez and John Mullican.
